Getting started
How Framewick works, and what to send us.
Upload any digital image from your phone or computer, choose your frame, and leave the rest to us. We print, frame, and dispatch your piece by hand from our workshop. It arrives at your door, ready to hang, within 7 to 10 days via DPD. No measuring, no trip to the framer's, no fuss.
The original is always best. We accept all major image formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, SVG, and PDF. HEIC is the format iPhones save to by default, so your photos work straight from your camera roll with no converting or fiddling. We also accept AI and print-ready files for digital artwork, and we can handle anything up to 5GB, so there is no need to compress or resize before uploading. We ask for a minimum resolution of 190 DPI so your print looks as it should on the wall, and most photos from a modern smartphone clear that comfortably, as long as you send the original. Wherever you can, upload directly from your camera roll or iCloud rather than sharing through WhatsApp or email first. Both quietly compress your image in ways that are invisible on a screen but rather less invisible in a frame. Original files, straight from the source, give you the best result.
We set a minimum of 190 DPI so your print looks as it should on the wall, and we are not able to accept files below it.
The most common reason a photo falls short is that it has been shared through WhatsApp or email first, both of which compress your image in ways that are invisible on a screen but rather less invisible in a frame.
The fix is almost always the same: upload the original file, straight from your camera roll or iCloud. Most photos from a modern smartphone clear 190 DPI comfortably that way.
Not yet. For now, Framewick works from digital files, so anything on your camera roll or hard drive is ready to go. Framing for mail-in prints, artwork, and keepsakes is something we intend to offer before long, so do check back.
Bigger than you would think. A photo from a recent iPhone holds a great deal more detail than it appears to on the screen, and as long as the original file meets our 190 DPI minimum, we can take it to a surprising size.
How far it stretches depends on which iPhone took it. Photos from the latest models, with their larger sensors, comfortably reach our biggest frames, while an older phone will still cover the smaller and middle sizes beautifully. The key, as ever, is to upload the original straight from your camera roll, since a version sent through WhatsApp or email will have been quietly compressed and will not go as far.
For reference, our frames come in five sizes: Classic (20 x 30cm), Standard (30 x 40cm), Statement (40 x 50cm), Gallery (50 x 60cm), and Exhibition (60 x 80cm).
We quality check every piece before it leaves us, so if your image will not hold up at the size you have chosen, we will let you know before anything goes to print. You are never left to guess.
The frames
What goes into every Framewick piece, and how to choose yours.
All of our frames are handcrafted in the UK from MDF mouldings, finished in grained black (Dahlia), walnut (Honeysuckle), or white (Orchid). We choose MDF because it is more dimensionally stable than solid wood, holding a clean, consistent profile that will not warp or move with the seasons, and because it makes efficient use of timber. The mountboard is premium white-core, acid-free, lignin-free and pH neutral, so it stays white and protects your print for years. We print on FSC-certified satin photo paper using archival pigment inks rated to last over 100 years in normal interior conditions. The glazing is specialist 2mm float glass, the backing is branded kraft paper, and every frame leaves us with D-ring fittings and hanging cord already fitted. All materials are responsibly sourced and FSC certified. This is where we begin. New colours, finishes, materials, and products are on their way in the weeks and months ahead. We are just getting started.
Every product page lists the full dimensions, and offers a virtual rendering that shows the piece on a wall, so you can get a real sense of the space it will fill before you decide. As a rough guide, smaller sizes suit a shelf, a desk, or a cluster of several pieces together, while the larger sizes are made to hold a wall on their own. If you are torn between two, the larger one almost always looks better than you expect once it is up.
Every frame arrives with D-ring fittings and hanging cord already attached, so all you need is a hook or a nail and a spare five minutes. It really is ready to hang, straight out of the box.
Very little is needed. A soft, dry cloth over the glass now and then is plenty. Avoid hanging your piece in direct sunlight or anywhere that gets damp, like a bathroom, and it will look as good in years to come as it does on the day it arrives.
Ordering and delivery
From placing your order to the moment it arrives.
Everything but shipping. That means professional printing on premium satin photo paper, your chosen frame, the mountboard, and the glass, all in. Nothing waiting to surprise you at checkout. And for a limited time, every order arrives with a free Framewick tote, while our early orders last.
We deliver across the UK mainland, with every piece sent from our Manchester workshop via DPD. Orders arrive within 10 days. You will have a tracking link by email so you always know when to expect it.
Get in touch as soon as you can at support@framewick.com. If your piece has not yet gone into production we can usually amend or cancel it without trouble. Once printing and framing are under way we may not be able to make changes, since each piece is made to order, so the sooner you write, the better.
Once your piece is on its way you will receive an email from us with a DPD tracking link, so you can follow it from our workshop to your door.
DPD will let you change the delivery day, leave your piece in a safe place, or send it to a neighbour, all through the tracking link they send you. Nothing is left to chance.
Most orders dispatch well within the 10-day window. If you have not heard from us and it has been longer, write to support@framewick.com and we will find out exactly where your piece is.
Every piece is quality checked before it leaves us. If anything is not right when it arrives, write to support@framewick.com within 7 days with a photo and we will replace it at no cost to you.
